Online Sales Income - Allowing Profits to Soar

No matter what type of product or service you may be offering, there is a way (actually, usually many ways) to utilize an online presence to generate income. We councel a lot of business owners regarding increasing profits using 'the net'.  Many are online companies that simply aren't getting noticed. Buyers can't buy their products, because buyers don't know about what they are offering.

But, another large part of our work is helping businesses of the more 'traditional' type. Site built, touching only a localized market in their home town. Hands on types of businesses which simply can't see any benefit to maintaining an online presence. A good example is a custom 'Veterinarian' marketing review completed recently. Though business was booming 10 years earlier; the competition increased ten fold PLUS they were now competing with 3 different agencies offering low-cost shots and spay/ nueter. They had downscaled half of their office, including 2 of their Dr's and were hanging on by a literal thread. Do you have a similar situation? Let's step outside the box.

The 1st recommendation.. co-op advertising. Since auto dealerships in the area were languishing... a marketing campaign was organized that benefited several businesses at once. An auto dealer paid $500 for two dr's to be at their lot for 2 hours each for a total of 4 hours. 2 pet shelters were contacted and invited to bring adoption pets to the dealership for the day (dealer paying $500 donations to each agency). They put out press releases inviting Everyone to join them for the 'Adopt-A-thon' saying NOTHING of cars for sale... but instead promoting homeless pets that the dealer would pay 50% of adoption fees on, Dr's offering shots super cheap... Love of Pets was all that was promoted. They all recieved a ton of FREE promotion on TV news, radio & newspaper. The Drs handed out tons of flyers offering 50% off of 'Obedience Training' classes held at their offices, as well as coupons for pet products and services. All clients had to do was go online and enter their coupon codes. At the end of the day the dealer had their strongest selling Saturday in 10 months, the Vets are busy with a full clientelle list... PLUS a lot of precious homeless pets got great new homes.  

2nd Recommendation: Ask the Dr Blog. The general public posts questions and they are answered online. Of course (as you would expect) the answer to the majority of questions are the various possible health related issues and a recommendation for a check-up which included an online visit discount. They also posted a 1 page virtual store with several pet products for sale... pet shampoo, healthy pet treats and an assortment of special 'beef basted dog bones' that are all the rage. Online sales do well, because they are selling products nationwide, but sales to locals are especially important because pick up their product in person to save on shipping fees, which in turn allows the Dr's to establish repore and extend discounts to bring the pet owners back in the future. 

3rd recommendation: An online calendar pointing out schedules for 'Obedience Lessons' and clinics they would hold 2 times monthly for pets adopted from shelters. Giving clients the extra services, money saving discounts, gaining allegiance from pet owners by promoting adoptions, inviting interactions within their Q & A section and making online scheduling and Live Chat available... turned their business around.

First and foremost, make certain you have a solid payment program in place.  Place your 'Virtual Online Store' and products being presented for sale in a tantalizing way that will make buyers want to say 'Yes'. Once income generators are in place, begin using all of the diverse marketing tools to grow your site and establish a firm online business presence and foundation.  

Utilize every tool at your disposal to gain an audience. Strive for audience interaction touching diverse demographic groups.
